Planning the perfect trip?

It’s so frustrating to find the perfect holiday on line, there are so many options now, so many magazines to read and guidebooks to use and of course where your friends and family recommend. In a nutshell it can be overwhelming. You were hoping this article will help you gain some insight? Nope. Just voicing the obvious. TOO MANY OPTIONS! I have a trip I’m planning for September, It will be 7 countries in 28 days. The Balkans: Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, and Macedonia and Kosovo plus Bosnia. I know there are certain places I want to...

Tap2Tag

What’s that? I just wanted to let everyone know I’m invested in a great new business. I travel a lot and I like the idea of being in a business that could potentially save a life. Or even to become a hero by saving someone life. It’s an electronic medical alert bracelet. All android phones have a thing called NFC on them, you place the phone near the bracelet and you can read the info that is on the bracelet. The info is only what the person wants you to know so that you can help them in an emergency. I wear the bracelet everywhere,...

Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador in March!

Countries not high on peoples list of fun places to go to?? You would be wrong. Nicaragua has some of the best beaches and resorts. It’s cheap and the people are so friendly. This is a place for surfers for sure but I am not a surfer and I really liked the small towns and the resorts. It’s a little hot but worth the trip. Made me really want to learn Spanish! Guatemala has some of the nicest people! I dropped my wallet in one place, someone handed it back to me. A ten dollar flew out of my pocket and again someone gave it right back to me,...

Venezuela OH MY!

Venezuela OH MY!

Just my luck I arrived in Venezuela 3 days after the government laid out a power usage law among its citizens, all malls and corporations will have no power from 1pm-3pm, all restaurants will be open then and theatres as its lunch time. No more late hours either, stores and restaurants within malls and corporate buildings including government buildings are closed at 7pm. everyone suffers, business and customers and even tourist. I had the unfortunate luck to chose a hotel above a mall, normally that’s ideal for me. Not now in Venezuela. The...

100 Countries or Not?

It’s January and I have 24 countries to do in this year before I turn 50. I chose this out of thin air. There’s no logical rhyme or reason to this. I said I would do it and now I feel righteous to do it! It’s January and I have to plan 24 countries to go to in one year. It’s exhausting to think about it. I need money and time to do this. Ok I also need the energy to do this. Not that I’m old or anything, but it takes a lot of stamina to keep on flying about, seeing new places trying to take it all in eat strange foods, navigate my way around...

Vietnam and Cambodia

Vietnam and Cambodia

Such culture shock. We met all kinds of people who also felt the shock and funny enough most were doing the same route I was doing it seems that these two very different countries are a combo to travel with. I’d think Laos would have made a well-rounded trip but there is just too much to see and eat!! Both countries are poor but people seem to be very resilient and working hard to get to modern times. I got the feeling that Cambodia has a lot more religion affiliations, we saw about 4 temples a day there in ruins, we had to dress with respect...

Kazakhstan for another off country to check out!

I say off country as its not really for tourists. I mean it is but not many people think of it as their dream holiday place, it’s not really a bucket list country but for me it was. My father had been an ambassador there and I’ve never seen it. I picked Almaty because there was a Hard Rock Café there, that’s the last time I let that be my decision maker. I should have chosen their capital city Astana as I love major cities. I assumed that if there was a Hard Rock there it had to be a trendy place. Kazakhstan was part of Russia for so long...

Rain and Holidays don’t mix well

I’m not one to write articles while I am on the trip let alone the first day but I have to say something. When it rains it can really mess up your holiday!!! Manila is pouring all day and all night! I’m in a room with no windows it has one whole wall of an aquarium with dozens of different fishes swimming by to and from the rooms besides me. Awesome as that may sound there is no window I cant tell the time of day it is at all. Its like having an inside room on a cruise ship!! Anyways the point is one must plan what else there is to do...

ICELAND SO EXPENSIVE!!

ICELAND SO EXPENSIVE!!

I loved Iceland but wow is it expensive to buy anything there especially food. They have very little of their own resources and import everything else. They eat all their possible resources such as whale and puffins! Yes more expensive then the British pound and the Australian dollar. They do have nice reasonably priced hotels and great tours all very good prices. Just can’t buy anything. I even flew there last minute on the cheap! The airport shops are actually cheaper than the rest of Iceland I do not know why, don’t ask! The weather in...
